The Plattenhof is a design hotel, which is actually composed of two buildings on the corner of two different streets. It is quite anonymous looking and can easily be missed, but this is part of its understated charm. The small lobby is starkly furnished and adjoins a trendy bar. The 37 medium sized guestrooms, fresh from a 2003 renovation, feature a white colour scheme and black furniture with oak parquet flooring. The Design rooms also come equipped with flat-screen televisions, gaming consoles, custom-designed Italian furniture and state of the art lights that can be altered depending on guests’ mood. Both the rooms and the en suite bathrooms are in exceptional condition. With its innovative Italian menu, extensive wine-list focussed on Italian wineries and a warm and welcoming interior design, the hotel’s "Sento" restaurant has become a popular choice for Zurich's connoisseurs of contemporary Italian cuisine. During the summer months, dinner is also served on the cosy garden patio.
